What was old is new again as the 45th-annual Banff Pork Seminar returns to the Banff Springs Hotel.
Started in a small conference room at Olds College in 1972, the seminar was moved to Banff to take advantage of better accommodations against an unrivalled background, giving delegates access to one of Canada’s most renowned attractions.
This year, organizers based in the swine program at the University of Alberta have offered six reasons for producers, processors and industry representatives to attend the seminar, scheduled for Jan. 12-14, 2016.
*Sessions with Temple Grandin, the world’s foremost expert on animal welfare.
*Learn about Canadian opportunities in Brazil and its emerging power in pork production from Rui E. S. Vargas of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein.
*Take part in discussions of swine health and genomics with key researchers working in that field.
*Explore the responsible use of antibiotics and how to evolve into and manage an antibiotic-free production system.
*Return of the Boar Pit, where delegates can interact directly with experts on key issues within the industry.
*Network in one of the world’s most beautiful areas. Ski. Shop. Have some fun and enjoy the fellowship.
