
Harry Siemens Receives Award
On Saturday February 8th Harry Siemens was presented with the King Charles III Coronation Medal, from Senator Don Plett. A very well deserved honour.
The award, presented through the office of Senator Don Plett, acknowledges Siemens’ contributions to journalism and advocacy, particularly in the agricultural sector.
Senator Plett expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It is an honour to recognize Mr. Siemens and the other recipients for their outstanding contributions. This medal serves as a symbol of gratitude and recognition for their dedication and service.”
Plett added, “Harry Siemens, your unwavering dedication, service, and impact—particularly in the field of agriculture journalism—reflect the very spirit this medal was created to recognize.”
Harry has wrote for Prairie Hog Country since the very first edition in 1996, and is a very valued member of the PHC writing team. Harry began his career back in 1971, and always been in his words a advocate for the farmer. Congratulations Harry. •
Canadian Pork Council Appoints CVO
Egan Brockhoff was given the position of Chief Veterinary Officer for the Canadian Pork Council. Egan previously served as Veterinary Councilor for the CPC since 2015. •

Alberta Porks’ New Communications Manager
Alberta Pork is pleased to welcome Jo-anne Beaulieu to the team. Jo-ann has assumed the position of Communications Manager.
Jo-Anne started with Alberta Pork in January 2025 as Communications Manager. She is excited to join their dynamic team in planning communications strategy, public awareness activities, and government advocacy for Alberta’s pork producers. Jo-Anne brings with her extensive experience in graphic design, website management, social media communications, photography, and videography. •

After writing for Prairie Hog Country since 2004 this will be the last edition that includes articles penned from Brenda Kossowan. While very sad to see her hang up her freelancer hat, I totally understand that her plate is to full to continue. Thanks for all the great coverage from past 21 years, it has been much appreciated. Sessions, seminars, trade shows, meetings, farm tours and feature stories just to name a few.
