CPC, CMC & CCA Meet Canadian Ambassador to the US of Ag in Late December
Industry colleagues including René Roy (left) Chair of the Canadian Pork Council and Quebec pork producer, Dennis Laycraft (right) Executive Vice President of the Canadian Cattle Association and Chris White (Chair of the Canadian Meat Council) met with Kirsten Hillman, Canadian Ambassador to the United States of America late December.
They were in Washington to meet with US decision makers and key influencers to convey our concerns about the proposed 25% tariff on all Canadian goods entering the US, and in particular, the very negative effects it could have on Canada’s beef and pork industries and US consumers and businesses.
At this time, it is very important that we are all sending consistent messaging to our American neighbours about the negative effects such a tariff could have on affordability of key proteins for US consumers.•

Animal Health Canada Bids
Farewell to Board Member Dave Taylor and Welcomes New Member

Animal Health Canada said farewell to Dave Taylor, the vice-chair of the AHC Board of Directors, as he steps down from his position on the Board at the end of 2024. Mr. Taylor, a Dairy Farmer on Vancouver Island, has shared his thoughtful, articulate voice with the Board since 2019. He has always had farmer’s mental health and well-being at the top of mind and shared his perspectives with his fellow board members. Mr. Taylor’s caring nature shines through as he had always taken the time to get to know the people he worked with and would check-in with them often, despite an impossibly busy schedule. We thank him for his insight over the years and wish him the best in his future endeavours.
We welcome Adam Petherick, a dairy farmer from Campbellford, Ontario, to replace Dave on the Board of Directors starting in 2025. We look forward to introducing him further in the new year. •

Integrated Supply Chain
Canada is the largest trading partner of 38 U.S. states and ranks in the top three for 13 others. Unified cross-border trade stimulates job creation and economic growth, which benefits both countries.
Stephen Heckbert, Executive Director CPC, recently spent a weekend attending the STATE AGRICULTURE AND RURAL LEADERS, INC. Summit (SARL) in Iowa, underscoring the commitment to strengthening its partnerships with farm leaders and policymakers in the United States.
Canadian delegates included John Barlow, Shadow Minister of Agriculture, Ron Kostyshyn, Manitoba Minister of Agriculture, John Jordan, Parliamentary Secretary to Agriculture for Ontario, and several other high-profile personalities.
This strong Canadian presence underscores our unwavering commitment to ensuring a unified cross-border supply chain within the Canadian agriculture and pork industry. •
