Manitoba Pork welcomes new agriculture minister as part of provincial cabinet shuffle
Recently the Manitoba government announced a shuffle in its cabinet, resulting in the appointment of a new Minister of Agriculture and Resource Development. Manitoba Pork congratulates Minister Ralph Eichler on his return to the role of Manitoba’s Minister of Agriculture and Resource Development. Minister Eichler brings a wealth of experience in both agriculture and rural issues, and Manitoba Pork looks forward to continuing a strong working relationship with the provincial government.
“We welcome Minister Eichler back to his role as Minister of Agriculture and Resource Development, and we look forward to working alongside him to ensure our sector’s continued prosperity,” said Rick Préjet, chair of Manitoba Pork. “Minister Eichler has a strong grasp of agriculture and rural issues. With about 14,000 Manitobans across the province depending on our sector to make their living, we look forward to continuing our strong and collaborative relationship with the provincial government as they recognize the importance of the hog sector as one of Manitoba’s strongest private-sector job creators.”
Manitoba Pork also wishes to recognize the contributions of Minister Blaine Pedersen as he leaves his ministerial role. From his days working with agriculture advocacy groups, to his early days as an MLA, and finally through his time in cabinet, Manitoba’s hog sector and the entire agriculture sector in this province has benefited greatly from Minister Pedersen’s leadership. •
Pork Display at Calgary Stampede
Once again members of the Stampede Pork Committee team, including pork producers, spent 10 days in Calgary during the Stampede at the pork showcase. The exhibit which was set-up and designed to allow social distancing, featured a sow and her piglets. This live animal display provides an interactive and engaging presentation of the Alberta pork industry. Huge thanks to Alberta Pork for their continued sponsorship of this attraction.
Everyone who stopped by the exhibit had the opportunity to engage with and learn from the Pork Committee volunteers at a close level. •
