The Alberta Pork Board of Directors welcomes its latest members, following an election. Ballots were counted and recorded by Alberta Pork staff on March 8, 2021, with oversight from the Alberta Agricultural Products Marketing Council.
Four Director-at-Large positions were available this year, for which five nominations were received. All registered producers were eligible to vote for four candidates to occupy the four available positions for a three-year term.
The results are as follows:
• Brent Moen – re-elected
• Craig Thompson – re-elected
• Ard Bonthuis – elected
• Andy Walter – elected
They are joined by four other board members Stan Vanessen, Martin Waldner, Hendrik Fourie and Marcel Rupert.
Thank you to all candidates for putting their names forward, and thank you to past directors Mark Wipf and Ian Moon for their dedication and contributions.
Alberta Pork would like to congratulate the winners and looks forward to their participation. Thank you to those who nominated their fellow producers and everyone who cast a vote. •
Remembering a Dear Friend
Recently a dear friend and former neighbour passed away. While he had no connection to the pig sector have gave me a very special present years ago. I have shared with our readers before but in memory of Howard wanted to again.
This pig weather vain sits atop a shed behind my house. So I can see every morning when I look outside. •
